Explore what’s on near us in December

Festive season is finally here! You can’t fail to get in the Christmas spirit with London illuminated and decked out for this magical time of year. Some of the Christmas window displays in the shops, such as Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly, are festive attractions in their own right. There really is no shortage of good cheer to be found, but here’s a few suggestions to add even more seasonal sparkle to your stay with us at Euston Square Hotel this December.

Borough Market

Borough Market has long been a top foodie destination. Incredible produce from both all over the UK and around the world, great cafes and restaurants, unbelievable street food, and an amazing spectacle, it’s always worth a visit. This time of year makes it unmissable with all the extra special Christmas treats, and there’s also a few extra events to make it all shine even more. December 1st-January 31st is Bankside’s Frost Fair. Inspired by the area’s rich heritage and its lively characters, Bankside will be reinventing these strange happenings, through a series of innovative augmented reality (AR) installations, street art murals, animations, cinematic film and AI collaborative digital art, located throughout the area, as well as events, workshops and food & drink experiences. Lots to explore there.

How about some Christmas Wreath Making? Feel festive and learn a new skill as you create a beautiful botanical wreath to make sure your door is looking its festive best. All materials are supplied, so just bring your creativity along on December 13th. On December 15th you are invited to An Evening of Cheese. Get ready for a cheese-themed shopping extravaganza led by the Borough Market community of cheesemongers. Enjoy tastings, seek expert advice and put together a festive cheeseboard featuring the highest quality cheeses from all over the world.

Over 100 leading architects, landscape architects, engineers and designers will use their building expertise and baking genius to create a gingerbread-based urban landscape that suggests a new ‘normal’ in our post- Covid world. You can also join festive gingerbread house-making workshops taking place every day during the exhibition. This unusual event by the Museum of Architecture takes place December 3rd to January 2nd.
