What’s on in London in April

Events happening around Euston Square Hotel this April

There’s always so much going on in London it can be hard to know where to start. With that in mind, here’s an eclectic selection of notable events happening this April here in town. Maybe something will tickle your fancy?

Lords Cricket Ground
Cricket. Yes, if you long for the sound of leather on willow, love your creases and your bails, and enjoy sitting around for hours on end, then head over to Lords Cricket Ground and catch the action. Situated in nearby St John’s Wood, Lords is one of the game’s most hallowed grounds. Just a couple of the upcoming matches include:
  • April 14th – MCC vs. Wales
  • April 28th to 1st of May – Middlesex vs. Leicestershire

The Magic Circle

There’s more to it than a rabbit on a hat, you know. Enjoy the chance to get up close and personal with some of the UKs top magicians as they amaze and astound you. Visit The Magic Circle, a real life magicians guild, and take in their new show. Explore the museum, grab a drink from the bar and prepare to be amazed. Meet the performers, see the acts close up, and who knows, you may even be part of the show! You can see the show on April 8th, 22nd and 29th. But act quickly, we expect tickets will disappear fast…

The 100 Club

The 100 Club is a legendary nightclub and gig venue on Oxford Street, and has been hosting live music since 1942. Many a classic act have performed here over the years, and the 100 Club has been instrumental in breaking all sorts of musical genres and trends over the years. Any given week could see a hot new band one night, some great fun tribute bands another, and maybe a classic  punk or ska act. Sadly it’s one the very last of the great music venues in the West End, so be sure to take in a show if you can. Check their listing for what’s on, get a beer at the bar, enjoy the band and soak up some living history. This is what legends are made of. A brief selection from this month includes:

  • April 16th – Block 33
  • April 17th – Spiritual Records
  • April 18th-19th – Luke Haines and Peter Buck
  • April 20th – Hawklords
  • April 23rd – the Jam’d

Alexandra Palace

A little further north, Alexandra Palace is an iconic London venue that delivers a year-round programme of events, from large scale gigs to darts tournaments, exhibitions and festivals. A multi purpose venue, it’s also well worth a visit for its setting: perched high on a hill top overlooking its own park and with great views of London laid out before you.

This month sees the play ‘Persuasion’ staged in the Victorian Theatre, from April 7th till April 30th.  A bold and brilliant adaptation of Jane Austens novel that brings her sharp observation and quick wit to the stage, but without a bonnet in sight. Or how about some ice hockey?  Yes, you can catch Haringey Huskies VS Swindon Wildcats in a playoff for the quarter finals on April 9th. Fun, fast-paced, it’s a total blast and well worth a look!

If two wheels is more your thing, The Cycle Show – the UKs biggest cycling show returns to London at Alexandra Palace from 22-24 April 2022. Expect demos, all the big brands with sales booths and famous faces galore. Find out more about this awesome venue, book tickets and plan your trip:
