Things to do in London this March

There’s much to enjoy in Spring when you stay with us at Euston Square Hotel. Take a walk to Regent’s Park and enjoy the gardens coming to life, or nearby Bloomsbury with its cherry blossoms, or just enjoy some brighter weather (mostly). Here’s a few more ideas to get you exploring the capital.

St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival 2023

March 12th – St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival 2023 – St Patrick’s Day is a big deal in London, but not quite the same level as New York, so don’t expect a total take-over. You will, however, see gallons of a certain Irish stout being consumed…

The route is scheduled to start at Hyde Park Corner, passing through Piccadilly around midday. This massive 50,000-person parade passes many iconic London sights before ending at Trafalgar Square. From there the festivities continue with a full show from Irish acts and guests, culminating in a good old singalong with London Irish Community Voices Choir.

BFI Flare Film Festival 2023

Next, a cultural event of a different kind, perhaps a little more restrained. March 15th-26th is the BFI Flare Film Festival 2023.

The UK’s largest queer film event, BFI Flare returns to the BFI Southbank over ten days this March, showcasing the best new LGBTQ+ cinema from around the world.

London Gaming Market

Calling all gamers! This March 19th you’ll want to head to the London Gaming Market.

It’s the city’s biggest regular market dedicated solely to games and game culture, and the best place to find bargains, with everything from retro consoles and accessories to new games and assorted geek gear of the highest order.

The Boat Race

And finally, this is something of an English institution, with more than a whiff of Brideshead Revisited about it. Yes, it’s the The Boat Race. The London Boat Race is back on March 26th, when you can join thousands of other live spectators along the River Thames between Putney and Mortlake. Cheer on the competing rowing crews from Oxford and Cambridge universities, throw your hats in the air and soak up this very British event.
